Time to Express Your Opinion
So, Colin and I were "successful" in that we managed to get the videos captured and uploaded onto the blog. Today we hope to get another set up.
What we are hoping for, however, is for those of you that stop by to drop a comment on any of them to let us know what you think. Do they stink? Are they interesting or useful? To quiet, or loud? Hard to watch?
This is our experiment with this new style and we'd love as much feedback as you can give - it'll help us better understand where we want to take this kind of communication in the future.
Well, it's definitely a good idea and I enjoyed most of the clips I saw. There were some clips where the purpose of the clip was not clear, like the interview with Diya (being an LV PDA user myself I would definitely have liked to hear more about the module itself and what the developers have to say about it) or the interview with Steve R., which seems quite incomplete (where was the demo itself??? ;))
I would like to see some more clips with "real" content, but I understand the difficulty of doing this during the convention.
The video and sound quality are fine (except for the quick tour).
It's probably a bit late for it now, but it probably wouldn't hurt if you gave this more publicity prior to NIweek, so that more people would know about it, as there are quite a few people who don't go to NIweek.

One important point is that at least on my computer opening the page with all the videos on it causes a 100% CPU usage and so makes the video erratic.

Thanks for the feedback!
So, you noticed this was a little bit last minute, did you? *laugh*
Hopefully this experiment will show it's worth doing this again next year, and with a bit more planning.
As to the loading of the page, what browser/version are you using? I've seen the spike in CPU when the page first loads, but the playback hasn't been a problem. If it is on some browsers, we'll want to change the layout.

The browser is a standard run-of-the-mill IE6 running on XP pro. I wouldn't be surprised if this was because of my rather old laptop. I checked now again and it seems that the usage goes now to about 90-95%, which is enough to make to make the video jerky.

Great grassroots effort to capture some of the cool apps on the show floor. And the diversity was nice, with an NI AE, a customer, and just you two explaining some. Great job. I like that it's a littly choppy - I think it adds to the authenticity of being filmed and uploaded on the fly, and it's not so bad that it's distracting from watching/hearing it.
We should have you guys sync up with Megan McCall who does the Inside NIWeek publication each day, as she is hoping to incorporate more video intereviews ad podcasts into next year's edition.
