Sorry for the late posting, but I'm just getting back to my blog. So, Day 2 has completed successfully and we had another keynote with a variety of demos. A key theme of the keynote was Dr. T's vision of having LV used all the way from design to test. For those that know the standard "Acquire, Analyze, Present" blocks - you now have a new one. Design, Prototype and Deploy.

Key to this was a demo of the Blackfin and LV Embedded package that was announced this week - makes getting started with LV embedded programming a snap - No C or embedded experience required. What I thought was interesting was the number of products that currently ship with the Blackfin processor - DVD players, Media Players (hand-held movie players), etc. If you're interested, here is the
announcement...Sorry, I know this sounds like a product plug, but as I've posted before, I think the embedded LV is a very exciting new version, and I'm excited about the types of new devices I'll be seeing at NIWeek 2006. Like the name says, I'm a geek.

I'm afraid I can't say much more about the presentations because I was locked away with customers getting feedback on LabVIEW - but there were several hands on training sessions, which I think are much better than the standard PowerPoint slide. I did poke my head into the cRIO hands on - just at the right time. For fun, they were showing some video of the "testing" they did with cRIO here at corporate...
- Throwing it off the roof of the 7 story main building, all while collecting data on its own fall.
- Shooting it up on a rocket to collect data on the flight and to deploy the parachutes.
